The European Parliament finally put its approval to the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the United Kingdom and the European Union on 28 April 2021 and the Agreement came into full effect from Saturday 1 May.
The Agreement includes a number of measures on protection of intellectual property which we had already set out in an earlier blog post which can be found here.
Holders and applicants of European Trademarks and European Design Rights have still got until 30 September 2021 to re-file their applications in the UK Intellectual Property Office if they were not registered before the end of the UK’s transition period of leaving the EU at the end of December 2020. It’s going to be necessary to give an address for service in the UK and we’re happy to support you with our new London Office (Details here).
